About

SDRaps.com is a place to check out rap and hip-hop music coming from San Diego. The site represents the personal tastes of its writers and should be seen as a series of music recommendations from us to you. We like rap. We like hip-hop. We live in San Diego. Since no one else is really doing it, we figure we’ll see what the city has to offer. You’ll be able to check out new music, videos, downloads, reviews, interviews, and more from some of the best artists in town. There are basically two rules here:

  1. Content is focused on music and music-making, for the most part. Breaking and tagging are parts of hip-hop but both those areas fall outside our range of expertise.
  2. We like the music we write about. We do this for free and we can’t write for free for long without liking what we write about. And we’d never recommend anything to readers that we wouldn’t personally stand behind.

Of course, by “we,” I really mean me, Quan, and one other contributor, Wes. Which is not enough to cover the diverse range of music being made even locally. SDRaps.com is currently looking for additional writers to contribute to the blog. If you enjoy rap/hip-hop music from the San Diego area and can write in an entertaining and/or insightful manner (uh, and do it for free), please send an email message along with a writing sample to: editor@sdraps.com

Very dope. Always good when a scene has a site like this i.e. fakeshoredrive.com, irepstl.com…already added this to my reader. As a newcomer to the scene (moved here last November) I need something like this to help me learn and keep me informed…

I just moved from Oregon to Pacific Beach and I’m looking for some rappers to link up with. Better yet, if you know any producers and beat makers, that is what I’m really looking for. Can you recommend any studios in SD?
