Odessa Kane – BloodShed

From Odessa Kane:

All too common to the working class is the brutality and terror exercised daily by the police state and money mongering political puppets. No longer will the people tolerate these injustices and violations. Folks are tired of the madness; it’s ride or die for our freedom. BloodShed.

I’m not usually excited about overtly political raps but I think every time Odessa Kane does it, it works. Part of it is that it’s still very raw and aggressive and still sounds good as rap music, never mind the politics. But I think another part of its appeal is that Odessa sounds smart without sounding like a smart-ass. He’s angry but not bitter. I think those are both very thin lines to tread in the realm of political music: to sound smart without sounding arrogant, to sound angry without sounding apathetic. He’s successful on both counts.

Produced by 21 Gramz. From the Cuetes & Balisongs EP, which is scheduled to drop this month, according to Bandcamp.

thank you…i try to balance as well as i can. As a listener of music i definitely cant stand overly dense material where the artist tries too hard and on the emotional aspect of rhymin i just try to tune in as well as possible to the beat….in this case, i had to spit it raw with content in the wake of all this police and political terror. COMBAT BOOMBAP. peace
