BlakkSunn (Sha Dula and Asia) – The Treatment
Sha Dula and Asia actually connected for a project like they threatened so many months ago. Currently, this album/EP/whatever is available for free download so you should peep it while you can. The music is standard fare for them, 90′s New York-styled rap in the vein of like Wu-Tang or Cormega or something. And I’m probably only making the Cormega comparison because the duo opened for him at Urban Underground last Wednesday. The show as a whole was mostly pretty boring, unless you were a hardcore Mega fan (he eventually started taking requests, which is extra dope). But I gotta say that there was a noticeable boost in the crowd when BlakkSunn dropped “The Chamber.” That beat is just stupidly, disgustingly hard. I also dug their performance of “Dynamics,” Run-DMC-esque back-and-forth rap is always welcome. As an album, the topic matter is a little shallow, pretty much solely focused on battling nameless wack (mainstream?) rappers. But in small doses, like in your mp3 player shuffle, it hits hard.
Reading be fun though:
