Changing the SDMAs: Vote Mitchy Slick, Win a Free MP3 Player

Voting for the San Diego Music Awards begins today and Mitchy Slick, the undoubtedly biggest hip-hop artist in San Diego, is nowhere on the ballot. That’s a problem.

Here’s the deal: the SDMA ballot gives you an option to write-in an artist of your own choosing. If you write-in Mitchy Slick for the “Best Hip Hop” category in the SDMAs, you will be entered to win a FREE Creative Zen Mozaic 16GB MP3 Player from SDRaps.com. On top of that, the mp3 player will be filled to the brim with San Diego rap and hip-hop music.

There are two ways to enter:

  1. Go to the SDMA ballot. Under “Best Hip Hop,” write-in “Mitchy Slick.” **Before submitting your vote,** take screenshots of your ballot (as shown below) to verify that you voted for Mitchy Slick. Email these screenshots to music@sdraps.com. You will receive five (5) entries into the contest.

  2. Retweet this message: “Vote @mitchyslick in the SDMAs, win a FREE 16GB mp3 player from @sdraps: http://wp.me/pnmM6-2M”. After retweeting this message, leave a comment on this blog post with a link to your Tweet. Retweet it once per day and receive one (1) entry into the contest for each Tweet you send.

This contest ends at 11:59PM PST on August 20, 2010, which is the last day of voting for the San Diego Music Awards. The winner will be announced on September 12, 2010, the day of the awards ceremony.

Rules:

  • For U.S. residents only.
  • Any entries that do not follow the rules will be disqualified.

If you are a fan of Mitchy Slick, vote for Mitchy Slick in the SDMAs.

If you are a fan of street music, vote for Mitchy Slick in the SDMAs.

If you believe the SDMA committee needs to be more in-touch with rap and hip-hop, vote for Mitchy Slick in the SDMAs.

If you believe that street rap–or “gangsta rap”–gives voice to the voiceless, the outcasts of society, the working poor and you don’t want them to be silenced, vote for Mitchy Slick in the SDMAs.

PS. Challenge accepted.
